Cookie cake

Well I decided that I would bake a cake for my brother’s birthday party last Saturday. He told me that he wanted a chocolate chip cookie cake. I told him that was fine even though I had no clue how to make one. I looked up a recipe on the trusty internet and found a recipe on Food Network.

I mixed up all of the ingredients and then proceeded to put them on my round baking stone. I left 2 to 3 inches around the dough for any spreading that might occur…oh and did it spread. Next thing I know, my oven is smoking and there are cookie pieces falling off of the sides. We have an electric oven so of course when the cookie fell on the burner, it caught on fire. We got that minor problem fixed; when like 3 more chunks caught on fire. Haha, well the cookie still had like seven minutes before it would be done, so I pulled it out so that we could remove the charcoaled cookie pieces from the bottom of the oven. Meanwhile, the smoke set off all three of our fire alarms which set off our two sweet babies!

After opening all of our windows, calming the babies down, and scooping out burnt cookie, we put the cookie back in for the remaining seven minutes. The cookie turned out really well despite our little adventure. 🙂 Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of the finished product, but I did get a picture of the plate that was full of burnt cookie pieces.

They’re getting so big. Samuel pulls up on just about everything. Kaylee is scooting all over the place and if she sees something she really wants, then she’ll actually crawl.

It makes me sad that planning a birthday party for them is actually in the near future. 😦
